A 10-foot-tall peanut statue installed in Gurgram’s CyberHub has gone viral on social media amid appraisal season. The plaque by the installation cheekily reads, “ In loving memory of the BIG raise you were promised ." Spotted by several netizens, including this brand consultant, the tongue-in-cheek yet brutally honest message of the peanut statue has the internet rolling on the floor and laughing.

The installation is a marketing campaign by one of the renowned job platforms in the country, taking a dig at the salary woes shared by millions of employees as most seek a bumper hike or a better counter from rivals. Per a Deloitte forecast , this year's average increment across sectors is expected to be 8.8% as compared to 9% in 2024.

The report suggests that 75% of the Indian companies might either reduce the hike or sustain the previous year's increment as is. This will be the lowest in a decade and the slowest in the last three years, barring the lockdown years 2020-21. Naukri just unveiled a giant peanut installation at Cyber Hub, Gurgaon -a subtle nod to the “big raise” that never quite showed up on the payslip.
