SAN DIEGO (March 10, 2025)—The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Registry Program released the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) 2024 Annual Report Supplement during the AAOS 2025 Annual Meeting in San Diego. The report offers trends to guide physician and patient decision making to improve care. HIGHLIGHTS Debridement, Antibiotics, and Implant Retention (DAIR) The AJRR Supplement Report provides an analysis of DAIR procedures over time with the goal of uncovering trends across patient populations.
By examining identifiable cases, the AJRR gained valuable insights into patient outcomes and the procedure’s potential effectiveness. DAIR procedures can be reported to the AJRR postoperatively—up to 90 days after the primary surgery—through its procedure layout or via Medicare claims data for the CMS-eligible cohort, enhancing AJRR’s ability to track and analyze surgical outcomes on a national scale. Implant Surveillance The introduction of Device-Specific Cumulative Percent Revision tables in the 2020 AJRR Annual Report Supplement marked a significant milestone, showcasing one of the registry’s greatest strengths—its ability to track implant survivorship over time.
This year’s supplement continues to demonstrate the critical role of registries in monitoring long-term implant performance, providing valuable insights that drive advancements in orthopaedic care.
