Trump is not fit to lead “ ,” (sacbee.com, Oct. 15) For the undecided voters out there, this election transcends political parties.

America needs a calm, rational, disciplined leader. Donald Trump is not that guy. A self-proclaimed business success, he filed for bankruptcy four times.

His cognitive decline is clear. And he’s a raging narcissist. To protect his own self-image, Trump must always be right.

So he ignores demonstrable facts and dismisses expertise. Christopher Maricle Fair Oaks Opinion Give nature space to heal “ ,” (sacbee.com, Sept.

10) While these efforts of fire suppression seem successful, I still fear that old-growth forests, such as the Sequoia National Forest, are at risk of excessive logging. As of today, less than 3% of California’s original redwood forest exists — wiped out by the wrath of timber, railroads and urbanization. These forests often lack any protection, giving loggers the freedom to chop away without ecological concern to the removal of sacred habitats as well as some of the largest natural carbon sinks.

President Joe Biden will soon leave office. To ensure he represents these trees, we must gather support and endorsements to pass an old-growth amendment with new protections for the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management that ends the logging of old-growth trees. We may never see Californian redwoods at their historical capacity, but a call for regulations could save what we have left and give nature space to heal.

Persistence by determined loyal fans is a possible solution. With John Fisher out of the green and gold picture, the A’s will have better financial opportunities, lifelong fans will not be disappointed and many loyal employees will not be left jobless. While the move may be more permanent, a new owner better suited for the team is still possible.

Take action by continuing to be loyal supporters of the team, not only by going to games but also repping the A’s on your chest. Cecilia Vazquez Brentwood Homelessness prevention “ ,” (sacbee.com, Oct.

20) The Moore’s tiny home village for the homeless is inspirational. It takes all levels of solution to deal with homelessness and prevent more people from becoming homeless. On the federal level, the expanded child tax credit that cut poverty by 46% and helped families pay bills, including rent, needs to be renewed.

The SNAP program (formerly called food stamps) needs to be increased in the next farm bill so that millions of families will no longer struggle to choose between putting food on the table and paying rent. Increasing affordable housing units across the country and passing a renter tax credit would also help keep families housed. Willie Dickerson Snohomish, Wash.
