As the cold weather persits, residents across Dorset are being reminded to check that their medicine cabinets are topped up so they can self medicate at home. This is for minor ailments such as cough's and sore throats and for minor cuts and bruises. This includes checking that they have pain relievers such as paracetamol, cough syrup and throat lozenges and basic first aid supplies for cuts and bruises like plasters and bandages.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: "Is your winter first-aid kit topped up? "Make sure you're equipped at home with everything you may need to manage minor ailments at home." It comes as Dorset County Hospital warned that its emergency department is 'extremely busy' and for patients to only visit if their conditions are serious or life threatening..
