RCMP have issued an Amber Alert for a five-day-old boy they say has been taken from a health centre in a northern Saskatchewan First Nation on Thursday afternoon. The baby boy, Koda Moccasin, was last seen wearing a blue sleeper when he was taken from the health centre in Montreal Lake Cree Nation, according to Waskesiu RCMP. An Amber Alert is the most urgent type of police alert issued in cases of suspected child abduction.

Police say the suspect, Merlin Junior Crookedneck, was last seen driving a 2022 black Hyundai Tuscon SUV with the Saskatchewan license plate number 965NAN. He is described as 5-foot-11 with a stocky build, dark hair and brown eyes. Montreal Lake is about 215 kilometres north of Saskatoon.

Crookedneck may be travelling to west to the Big River, Mudie Lake or Loon Lake areas closer to the border with Alberta, according to RCMP. Police say not to approach the suspect if spotted and to dial 911 to report any information..
