Already banned driver hit with drink driving charge in remote Riverina town

A 74-year-old disqualified driver will front court in April after being charged over an alleged drink driving incident at Conargo. or signup to continue reading About 9.50pm on Saturday, March 29, a Murray River Police District officer was driving along when he saw a utility vehicle being driven dangerously.

A short time later, the vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 74-year-old man, was asked to take a roadside breath test and returned a positive reading. He was arrested and taken to Deniliquin police station where a secondary test returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.150.



Further checks revealed the man was disqualified from driving until 2028. "He was issued a court attendance notice for drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period," a NSW Police spokesperson said. "He is due to appear before court in early April.
