Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 8: Ruling National Conference and its allies met here this evening to discuss logjam in the Legislative Assembly for last two days resulting into transaction of no business including three vital resolutions on restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir which were listed yesterday and private member’s bills which were in the business today.Follow the Daily Excelsior channel on WhatsApp“The Alliance partners will again meet at 9 AM tomorrow to discuss the strategy,’’ Senior NC leader and former Speaker Mubarak Gul told the reporters after the meeting this evening.He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is also expected to attend tomorrow’s meeting.
It may be mentioned here that Omar was in Srinagar and couldn’t attend the Assembly proceedings on Monday and Tuesday.He is expected to join the Alliance partners meeting as well as the Assembly tomorrow.No business could be taken up in the House today and yesterday due to protests over Alliance partners seeking discussion on Waqf bill, a demand rejected by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather citing rules.
Sources said there were indications that if a solution is found to the Waqf bill discussion, the Alliance partners may seek two days extension in the Assembly session to take up the business which was listed on Monday and Tuesday.As per the calendar, the Assembly is scheduled to adjourn sine die tomorrow after 21 sittings. The session started on March 3.
