BETHESDA, Md. , March 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Alley Cat Allies, the leader of the global movement to protect cats and kittens, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the prosecution and conviction of any person(s) involved in the antifreeze poisoning of community cats at a mobile home community in Warren, Ohio . Authorities believe at least three cats were killed by this horrific act of cruelty.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Animal Welfare League (AWL) of Trumbull County Humane Investigations Department at 330-539-5300 or [email protected] . On March 26, 2025 , Trumbull AWL Humane Agents responded to a report and discovered three bowls containing tuna mixed with antifreeze and bleach in an outdoor area at the Blue Water Manor mobile home community. A bottle of bleach was discarded on the ground near the bowls.
All signs point to local community cats, or unowned cats who live outdoors, as the target of deliberate poisoning. Three cats are believed to have consumed the poisoned food and died as a result. Antifreeze is well known to be toxic to cats and has a sweet taste that attracts animals.
It only takes a teaspoon of ethylene glycol, the main ingredient of antifreeze, to poison a cat. Cats who ingest the toxin suffer a slow and painful death. "Alley Cat Allies is working with Trumbull AWL to ensure justice is served for the cats who suffered and died under this act of senseless, disturbing cruelty," said Charlene Pedrolie, president and chief operating officer of Alley Cat Allies.
"We ask anyone with information to please come forward, for the sake of these cats and the many more whose lives are at risk right now." Any knowledge about this incident of antifreeze poisoning could be crucial to the investigation and prosecution. Again, anyone with information is asked to contact the Trumbull AWL Humane Investigations Department at 330-539-5300 or [email protected] .
