Allegiant Adds 44 Routes With 3 More Airports In Joint Largest Ever Expansion

More than half of the routes have never been served by any carrier.

Airlines often announce multiple routes simultaneously, but very few reveal dozens. Allegiant Air has added a remarkable 44 routes in one go, its joint-largest-ever expansion. Per the carrier's usual frequency, 42 routes will be twice-weekly, while the rest will be weekly (!).

They involve three new airports on its route map: Colorado Springs (part of the carrier's network until 2018), Columbia (last served in 2009), and Gulf Shores (Alabama). Unsurprisingly, it will provide the only scheduled passenger service at Gulf Shores, which is located south of Mobile. To make the article more readable, I have divided the 44 routes into two chunks and limited the information per entry.

Allegiant's first 22 routes They include Colorado Springs to Tampa St Pete. While this 1,279 nautical mile (2,369 km) airport pair has never had flights before, Frontier operated to Tampa International between October 2017 and April 2018. The US Department of Transportation shows it transported just over 25,000 roundtrip passengers and filled 81% of seats.

Seven routes (16%) were previously in Allegiant's hands, including as recently as 2023. A whopping 24 routes (55%) have never had scheduled flights..
