Details regarding Rockstar Games’ hotly anticipated mainline entry, GTA 6, remain scarce, becoming a legitimate cause of concern for most fans. After the dev team initially released a trailer towards the end of last year, no new information has popped up since, prompting many to wonder whether the game’s launch could be pushed back. Of course, the community’s fears of an impending GTA 6 delay haven’t been helped much by a now-deleted X/Twitter post from @billsyliamgta , which claimed it would launch in “early to mid-2026” instead of the original Fall 2025 release window (per Forbes ).

Aside from the alleged delay, their report also stated that the PC version’s launch would take place “12-18 months later” and that the info they gathered was from “multiple devs across two studios.” As of this writing, these details are still unconfirmed. After a wave of confusion and community backlash, Rockstar Universe and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier have since also debunked these claims.

In a recent post on X, Schreier stated, “Good news is that six Rockstar employees all told me they have not heard of any delay.” However, he followed that up by saying, “Bad news: it’s a big, ambitious game and could very well slip! Too much time left to say anything definitive,” so a delay is still in the realm of possibility. “I want to be very clear: Six staff told me they weren’t *informed* of a delay,” Schreier continued.

“For all I know, Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the company. But the lack of internal announcement suggests that the Twitter rumor was nonsense.” Without any confirmation of a GTA 6 release date delay, though, all we can do now is wait until either Take-Two Interactive or Rockstar comes out with an official announcement.
