BAYAN LEPAS: The Education Ministry plans to provide smartboards to all schools nationwide by 2027, aiming to boost digital learning and classroom engagement.Minister Fadhlina Sidek said that the 2027 timeline aligns with the introduction of the new curriculum."We want to see smartboard usage improved across all levels," Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek told reporters at SMK Bayan Lepas today after handing over 50 sets of smartboards to schools in Penang.
Smartboards are interactive digital displays that enable teachers and students to engage with content using touch, stylus pens, or gestures, enhancing learning through dynamic interaction.These high-tech boards combine the functionality of traditional whiteboards with modern computing power, enabling real-time collaboration, multimedia integration, and dynamic learning experiences.Fadhlina said the ministry is tracking the progress in other states to accelerate the implementation of smartboards in schools nationwide.
She also said that the implementation of smartboards across schools depends on several factors, including commitment, effort, demographics, and usage requirements.Meanwhile, Fadhlina said teachers are fully utilising smartboards in classrooms, leveraging their capabilities to enhance student learning."I am very confident that it will strengthen teachers' ability to improve the education of our children," she said.
Fadhlina said classroom observations have reaffirmed the interactive benefits of smartboards, highlighting their role in actively engaging students and encouraging participation."The students are highly active, entertained, and show strong concentration when these technologies are integrated, subtly transforming the way lessons are delivered," she added.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
