A total of 324 students have graduated in the Aligegeo Provincial Secondary school in Malaita province on Thursday. This is an increase enrolment of students after the Covid-19 compare to previous years. The breakdown of graduates include: This year’s graduation theme was “Partnership in Educational Challenges for Greater Achievements.
” Reflecting on the theme, the Guest of Honour, Deputy Premier of Malaita Province, Mr. Randon Sifoni, emphasized the importance of commitment from all stakeholders in the education sector. He reassured attendees that his government will continue to support the school, despite the current funding limitations faced by the provincial coffers.
“Currently, there is limited funding support for provincial schools, as reflected in the annual provincial budget,” he noted. “This situation often affects schools, especially in terms of infrastructure improvements, which are long overdue at Aligegeo.” Mr.
Sifoni encouraged the graduates, reminding them that they are the future leaders of the province. He stated that successfully completing their education could open doors to leadership roles within the province and beyond. “Leadership roles and titles will not come easily; they demand sacrifices and hard work.
You need to dedicate time and effort to excel in your exams,” he advised the graduates. He urged them to prepare thoroughly for their upcoming exams, which will be crucial in determining their progression. “As you climb the educational ladder, it narrows, and only a few will advance,” he cautioned.
Mr. Sifoni concluded by reminding the graduates that their journey doesn’t end here. “Today marks not an end but the beginning of a more complex educational journey.
“It requires persistence and effort to thrive at higher levels of education,” he said. “At times, you may feel discouraged by the pace of your learning, but take the time to reflect and rethink your approach to your studies.” he said The Solomon Islands National Examinations for Form Three, Form Five, and Form Six are in two weeks.
