A chicken house fire killed multiple farm animals in Alexander County on Wednesday. The fire appears to be accidental, but the exact cause is still under investigation as of Thursday morning, Alexander County Fire Marshal Mark Earle said The chicken house was located along Arthur Lane off Sipe Road in the Ellendale community of Alexander County. The 911 call came in shortly before 7:30 a.

m. on Wednesday, Earle said. There were no chickens in the building, but seven goats were inside when it caught fire.



The goats did not survive, Earle said. No other injuries were reported. The chicken house was destroyed by the blaze.
