Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov clearly found his time here special. Traded to the New York Islanders in a deal that allowed Kent Hughes to acquire Kirby Dach, Romanov obviously loved the Habs fans just as much as they loved him. This is something we often see, though it almost always goes unnoticed, but players (especially Europeans) don't hesitate to open up during interviews back home, especially in a language we don't understand.
In fact, in an interview like this, a reporter gave Romanov the opportunity to criticize the Montreal Canadiens organization and its fans, to open up, but his response was quite the opposite of what the reporter probably expected. Alexander Romanov Defends the Montreal Canadiens and Their Fans Asked specifically about the intense media pressure he faced while playing with the Habs, Romanov said he had nothing negative to say about it-in fact, quite the opposite (speaking in his own language). .." Romanov then jumped in to say that, for him, it was great.
I'd like to thank the fans once again. In my two years in Montreal, I never had a single negative experience, whether with the media or the fans. Never.

" - Alexander Romanov Wow, we love it! It says a lot about his character. Clearly, in his home country, they seem to have a more negative opinion of Canadian markets, but comments like Romanov's will definitely help change that perception. Bravo, Romy! He would be incredibly useful to this team right now, that's for sure.
