With Conor McGregor dropping off the MMA radar and many of its bigger names on losing streaks, there’s an argument that the UFC’s biggest superstar is now clearly Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira. From Mexico to South Korea, the light heavyweight champion causes a stir everywhere he goes, with countless videos online showing hundreds of fans flocking to take a picture with the stone-faced Brazilian. As ‘Poatan’ prepares for his toughest test to date in the main event of UFC 313 , the dominant 205lb champion has gone viral once again – this time over a cheeky fan autograph.
WHOLESOME : Alex Pereira was reduced to tears by fan battling cancer, but got a huge surprise in emotional reunion Alex Pereira goes viral over autograph signing ahead of UFC 313 Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira is well-known for enjoying ‘side-quests’ outside of fighting in the UFC octagon, with the light heavyweight superstar often causing a commotion wherever he visits. In his latest viral video, Pereira can be seen in a restaurant and signing the chest of a UFC fan, telling the camera “It’s in my name” as onlookers blushed. The video ends with a short clip of Pereira flanked on both sides by female admirers, bellowing with laughter as both women waft hand-held fans to help keep the UFC champion cool.
Pereira will certainly need to be cool, calm, and collected if he is to retain his light heavyweight championship at UFC 313 when he takes on #1 ranked contender and long-time rival, Magomed Ankalaev . The pair have been embroiled in a bitter war of words for well over a year, with the Russian recently taking to social media to slam Pereira as a ‘fake humble boy’ and ‘TikTok chick’ . UFC 313: Pereira vs Ankalaev goes down live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 8 in what’ll be his fourth light heavyweight title defense.
WOW : Dricus du Plessis backed to beat Alex Pereira and Khamzat Chimaev by UFC legend Alex Pereira called out for crossover super-fight by Oleksandr Usyk Should Pereira get his hand raised at UFC 313, there’ll likely be calls for him to move up once again to face either interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall , or undisputed champion Jon Jones . However, the door also remains open for various cross-promotion and cross-sport super-fights, including a big-money boxing match against Ukrainian hero Oleksandr Usyk . Usyk defeated Tyson Fury for a second time in December and recently told TNT Sports Boxing that his next fight will be against the winner of Joseph Parker vs Daniel Dubois – scheduled for February 22.
“First, it’s who wins the next fight on February 22...
Next, maybe a show fight with Alex Pereira. Maybe. Why not? Alex wants to [fight].
” Pereira has also called for a showdown with Usyk , with coach Plinio Cruz translating for the light heavyweight champion on the Jaxxon Podcast. “[Boxing] is something he really wants. But you know, he’s in a contract with the UFC – We know McGregor did it.
.. He’s the champ so he’d like to fight a champ.
So Oleksandr Usyk...
He feels that he could do really good.”.
