Aldi shoppers will be able to find two essential cold weather gadgets in the Specialbuys aisle from this weekend that can help to cut down energy bills. The supermarket is bringing back two of its bestselling heated airers, which have been hailed as a must-have for winter when drying clothes outside isn't an option. Heated airers have become an increasingly popular way to combat rising energy costs as an alternative to using a tumble dryer at a fraction of the price, while speeding up drying time and helping to avoid that unpleasant musty smell that comes from damp clothes.

Available in Aldi stores from Sunday, October 20, shoppers will be able to choose from two different sizes of heated airer to suit their household. The cheapest option is the Winged Heated Airer, which is priced at £34.99 and features 18 heating tubes with a running cost of just 6p per hour.

For those with larger loads of washing to dry, there's also the Upright Heated Airer, priced at £79.99, which can hold nearly 30kg according to Aldi. This model still has a money-saving running cost of 9p an hour, and just like the smaller airer it's foldable to save space when not in use.

Aldi's Winged Heated Airer comes in cheaper than Amazon's bestselling Highlands Electric Heated Clothes Dryer , which has sold in its thousands over the past month as shoppers grab it before the cold weather sets in. Also equipped with 18 electrically heated rails and a neat fold-away design, this gadget is priced at £41.90 - but it does have the benefit of reviews, earning an average rating of 4.

3 out of five stars based on feedback from nearly 4,000 shoppers. Fans of the airer praised it as "brilliant" and said it made drying their clothes "quicker and easier", adding that its heat could take the edge off cold rooms too, further helping to cut down on energy bills - although several people advised that it was most suitable for smaller and thinner items of clothing. Meanwhile, Aldi's Upright Heated Airer is considerably cheaper than the popular Dry:Soon 3-Tier Heated Airer , which is currently on sale at Lakeland for £174.99 reduced from £199.99.

Like Aldi's model, this airer has three foldable heated shelves and a running cost of 9p per hour. Overall, 80% of shoppers gave the Dry:Soon Airer a rating of four stars or above, with one person describing it as "a must-have for any home" while someone else said they "wouldn't be without it", although some reviewers thought it felt "cheap and flimsy" for the price tag.
