Jim Romeyn's food bank has gone so well over the past couple of months at Buddy With A Thrift Store that he has decided to expand the initiative to be a non-profit called Crooked Spoon Foundation. "It includes the thrift store and everything that sells at the store goes into our food initiative," he said. Throughout October, Romeyn began collecting non-perishable food item donations and partnering with local food suppliers to open the Food For All program in November.
"Individuals in need can access the initiative by visiting our thrift store during business hours...
we will have a dedicated area for food distribution and no one will be turned away," Romeyn explained. Buddy With A Thrift Store will now operate under the Crooked Spoon Foundation, "allowing us to streamline our efforts and maximize our impact," he said. "We plan to provide several microwave ovens for those who may not have access to cooking facilities, creating a cozy environment where people can heat up meals that are provided in our fridge and freezers and enjoy them at a table; much like a make-it-yourself restaurant," Romeyn said.
The long-term goal is to establish a fully equipped kitchen, where meals can be prepared for those in need. Romeyn said the foundation is just starting up and needs support. To help raise funds, a comedy night is being held with Rod Boss on Feb.

" The food bank is available during the thrift store's hours, Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.
m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.
m. to 3 p.m.
