Alden Richards on running: 'More than just a sport already.'

Former Pulang Araw stars Alden Richards and Barbie Forteza continue to inspire fans with their passion for running.What began as a simple habit of jogging has now turned into a shared advocacy, as the two Kapuso celebrities started to join fun runs and promote the health benefits of staying active."Actually marami naman talagang sports na puwede makatulong sa ating kalusugan pero I think isa [sa] pinaka-available at pinakamadaling gawin is really 'yung pagtakbo," Alden shared in an interview with Nelson Canlas.

Beyond the physical benefits, Alden also found emotional and mental healing in the sport."'Yung running kasi is more than just a sport already. Number one reason niya is for my sanity talaga.



Medyo psychological na 'yung effect sa akin ng running," he continued. "It's a different world for me."Barbie, on the other hand, appreciates how morning runs help her start the day right.

"First thing in the morning may na-achieve ka na agad, productive ka na agad, and mas nakaka-motivate na to go through your day," she said.Recently, the two Kapuso stars took their running advocacy to the next level by joining a meaningful charity fun run."It's more meaningful for me kasi this is a charity fun run for the children with cancer and I'm so so thankful to Alden for inviting me dito sa run na 'to," she expressed.

This year, Alden is set to lace up once again for another meaningful run-for-a-cause event.The Asia's Multimedia Star will be part of the organizing team of “Lights, Camera, Run! Takbo Para sa Pelikulang Pilipino,” a special event spearheaded by the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation Inc. (MOWELFUND) and MYRIAD Corporation.
