NEW DELHI: Maharashtra deputy chief minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar is expected to meet Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday evening, a senior party leader said. State NCP chief Sunil Tatkare, addressing media queries, dismissed reports suggesting Pawar was placed on a "waiting list" for the meeting. “No appointment had been sought,” Tatkare clarified.
He added that Shah, currently in Chandigarh, may hold political discussions later in the day. “There is no question of waiting (for an appointment),” Tatkare said, adding to the ongoing suspense over the state’s next chief minister. Portfolios and alliance dynamics On the allocation of portfolios in the new government, set to be sworn in on December 5, Tatkare noted that decisions would be made collaboratively among the Mahayuti alliance members.
"When all leaders sit together, we will discuss the allocation of ministerial positions," he stated. The Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP forms part of the coalition alongside the BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. Resentment over BJP chief’s move Tatkare also addressed Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar's complaint regarding state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s unilateral visit to Azad Maidan to inspect the venue for the swearing-in ceremony.
He termed it a valid grievance and confirmed that all alliance leaders would jointly inspect the venue later on Tuesday. From the NCP, Dhananjay Munde, Anil Bhaidas Patil, and Hasan Mushrif are set to participate in the inspection..
