Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar objected to derogatory remarks made against his uncle Sharad Pawar by BJP-backed MLC Sadabhau Khot during a campaign rally in Sangli's Jat constituency on Wednesday in the presence of the other deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Both Fadnavis and Khot were in Jat for a rally for BJP candidate Gopichand Padalkar where the MLC took potshots at Pawar. Within hours of Khot's remarks, NCP chief Ajit Pawar took to his 'X' handle to register his protest.

"The statement made by Sadabhau Khot against senior leader Pawar Saheb is wrong. We do not support such personal remarks against Pawar Saheb. It is not the culture of Maharashtra.

On behalf of the NCP, I protest the statement. NCP will not tolerate such kind of derogatory remarks against Pawar Saheb in future," Ajit Pawar wrote. Khot was with farmers' leader Raju Shetti's Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana for years.

He fell out with Shetti and floated Rayat Kranti Sanghatana..
