Aitape Secondary School in Aitape, West Sepik, has sent all Grade 9 students home last weekend due to short of funds to complete the academic year. Only Grade 8s and 11s were asked to remain in school with Grade 8s to sit their examinations starting today. A parent, Mr Florian Rosi, said parents will meet with the school administration in a Parents and Citizens meeting this Wednesday to address the issue.
Mr Rosi believed the school administration will ask parents to pay some more fees to assist the school to complete the academic year. He called on all parents to attend the Parents and Citizens meeting and see how they can assist the school to avoid disrupting this academic year with just 5 weeks of term 4 remaining. All Grade 9 students were told to stay at home until they are called or notified to return to school.
