From a fleet of 26 Boeing 737 NGs and 28 Airbus A320s, the airline has nearly doubled its fleet to 100 aircraft. Air India Express has marked a major milestone by adding its 100th aircraft to its fleet. The new Boeing 737-8, featuring stunning ‘Chittara’ tail art inspired by Karnataka’s traditional mural painting, was flagged off from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport—its largest hub.

The airline now operates over 445 flights from the airport every week. After the ceremony, the aircraft took off on the Bengaluru–Hindon route. With Hindon (Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR) joining the network this month, Air India Express has become the first and only airline to serve two airports in the National Capital Region.

Beyond fleet and network growth, Air India Express has worked to enhance the travel experience with unique offerings like: ‘Gourmair’ Hot Meals: A selection of delicious in-flight meals Xpress Biz Seats: A premium travel experience at affordable prices Enhanced Loyalty Programme: Exciting rewards for frequent flyers XpressHolidays: Custom travel packages that include flights, stays, and activities Custom Fare Options: Passengers can choose from four fare types, including XpressLite, India’s only special fare for cabin baggage-only travellers Reflecting on the achievement, Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, said:"In just over three years since privatisation, we integrated and merged the LCC airlines, while scaling up rapidly with a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, broad basing our domestic network, deepening and expanding our Middle East and Southeast Asia routes." Since becoming part of the Tata group in January 2022, Air India Express has grown rapidly. The airline’s fleet, initially comprising 26 Boeing 737 NGs and 28 A320 aircraft, has nearly doubled to 100 aircraft.

As part of its expansion, Air India Express has added several new destinations, including Bangkok, Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Hindon, Jammu, Patna, Phuket, and Port Blair. Every Air India Express aircraft features unique tail art under the ‘Tales of India’ theme, showcasing India’s rich artistic heritage. Designs include traditional textile patterns and art forms such as Ajrakh, Bandhani, Banarasi, Ikat, Warli, and more.

The 100th aircraft proudly continues this tradition with Chittara art from Karnataka. Historically practiced by the Deewaru community, Chittara represents prosperity and celebration. Created using natural colours on mud-coated surfaces, it reflects a deep connection to nature and culture.
