Stunning pictures of the inside of a chapel have been shared following a charity’s evening of carol singing. Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex held the Christmas event at Lancing College's chapel, featuring “carols, community, and festive readings”, on Wednesday, December 18. The event raised money for the life-saving work of the charity, which responds to more than 3,300 incidents annually across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.

Ticket sales went toward the funding of the life-saving charity (Image: Clare Boyling) Camera Club snapper Clare Boyling said: “An enjoyable evening yesterday at Lancing College Chapel, for the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex carol service. “I highly recommend attending one of their carol services next year if you have the chance to do so, you can meet some of the crew, enjoy mince pies and help raise funds for them too.” Pictures inside show the staggering gothic architecture of the 19th century building, with the vibrant red initials of the charity taking centre stage.

Building of the chapel began in 1868 (Image: Nicola Cunningham) Building of the chapel, designed by R.H. Carpenter and William Slater, began in 1868 and ceased in 1914, when the organ was also installed.

In 1899, the first service was held inside the unfinished chapel - the college's Golden Jubilee. The chapel's rose window, designed by Stephen Dykes Bower, was completed in 1978..
