Aion UT hatchback to open pre-sales in January with possibly 600km range New information about the Aion UT has emerged. Produced by GAC , it is a BYD Seagull and Wuling Bingo competitor. Pre-sales are expected to begin in January 2025, with prices starting at around 100,000 yuan (13,750 USD).
The car is then scheduled to officially launch in February 2025. The car debuted at last month’s Guangzhou Auto Show, and a few days earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) listing information appeared. At the time, there were three individual listings for the car.
Surprisingly, this month, there is yet another MIIT listing for the Aion UT. The only difference, as far as we can tell, is the electric motor. Although this remains the same power output of 100 kW, it is supposedly a different motor.
In the December listing information, the motor has the part number TZ180XS134 compared to TZ160XYD3A02 in November. The Aion UT measures 4270, 1850, and 1575 mm (l/w/h) and has a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Its weight is listed at either 1510 or 1540 kg, and buyers have a choice of 16 or 17-inch wheels.
Little is currently known about the battery pack other than that it will use a lithium iron phosphate battery. Although the range is unknown a drawing of the interior shows a 600 km range on a screen. Top speed is 150 km/h.
Overall, it is a smart-looking electric hatchback Equipped with features such as low-drag wheels and semi-hidden door handles to help with aerodynamics. The quad LED fog lights are probably the most interesting aspect of the design. It is the third Aion model designed with the global market in mind, following the second-generation Aion V and the Aion RT sedan.
As yet, there are no photographs of the interior. However, comic book-style pictures have appeared that show the car with the usual two-screen set. The two-spoke steering wheel appears to be largely devoid of controls bar two scroll-type wheels.
On the instrument panel, a range of 600 km is shown, which is most probably the car’s maximum range. It should be noted that this is significantly more than the range of competitors – the BYD Seagull has a range of 405 km and the Wuling Bingo 410 km. Sources: MIIT, Fast Technology.
