Medical waste (Image credits: X/@EPSTamilNadu) CHENNAI: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday slammed chief minister M K Stalin for not preventing the dumping of medical waste in the border districts by the neighbouring state. Taking to X, the former chief minister alleged that Stalin was only interested in “shaking hands” and “photoshoots” with his Kerala counterpart but was incapable of upholding the state's rights in Mullaperiyar Dam and not even brave enough to oppose the dumping of waste from a neighbouring state. “Prosperous Tamil Nadu is not anyone’s trash can,” he said.
Strongly condemning the ongoing dumping of waste from Kerala in Tamil Nadu's border districts, the former chief minister posted photographs of recent dumping in Kallur and Pazhavur in Tirunelveli district. He expressed concern about the potential spread of infectious diseases due to the medical waste and urged the administration to immediately remove the waste. He demanded that the DMK govt take stern measures to ensure that the waste from other states is not dumped in such a manner in the future.
