After Sukhbir’s resignation, SAD dist prez (urban) quits

Ludhiana: SAD district president (urban) Bhupinder Singh Bhinda resigned from his post in the wake of former CM Sukhbir Singh Badal’s resignation from the post of party president on Saturday. Bhinda, a former councillor, has been a favourite with party leaders. In the resignation letter to officiating president of SAD, he said that Sukhbir Singh Badal had resigned from presidency of Shiromani Akali Dal and it was he who had made him SAD (urban) president.

“In the context of his resignation, I consider it my moral duty and I also resign from the post of president of Ludhiana (urban) so that the new party president can hand over responsibility of this post to whoever he wants. I thank the senior leaders of Akali Dal and the leaders and workers of Ludhiana district who have always supported me," he stated. Expressing distress at Badal’s resignation, he said that the state got many projects during the tenure of the Shiromani Akali Dal.



He claimed that the development works undertaken during the period were remembered not just by leaders of SAD but also those of other parties. He laid to rest speculations about him leaving the party by reiterating his commitment to the SAD and said that he would continue to support Sukhbir Badal. Bhinda, a businessman, was made district president in Aug 2023.
