Actor-producer Sohum Shah is riding high on the success after Tumbbad was re-released in theatres. While the initial lifetime collection of Tumbbad in 2018 was Rs 12.44 crore, with the re-release, the box office collection surpassed it in just seven days.

Now, the current BO collection is claimed to be Rs 18.98 crore. While the audience is experiencing the magic world of Tumbbad on big screens, the makers have already elevated the excitement among all with the announcement of a sequel to Tumbbad.

However, recently, helmer Rahi Anil Bharve announced his exit from Tumbbad, which has left many shocked. On Saturday evening, Rahi took to social media handles and issued a statement, "For decades, I have worked on this insane trilogy with many producers changing in between. First was the greed of patriarchy (Tumbbad).

My personal and much darker version of father, son and the holy ghost." (sic) However, he also spilled the beans on the trilogy. His post further read, "The second deals with the dawn of feminism and holier than holy sati pratha — Pahadpangira.

Third, the end of this trilogy will be Pakshitirtha. That’s all I have to say for now." Announcing his exit from the sequel, he passed on the baton to Shah and co-director Adesh Prasad.

He wrote, “I wish Sohum and Aadesh all the best for Tumbbad II. I have no doubts it will be an outstanding success. Following the completion of Gulkanda Tales and Raktabhramand by the end of this year, I plan to start production on Pahadpangira in March 2025.

” (sic) Well, it is not just Rahi, creative director Anand Gandhi has also announced his exit recently. Commenting on Rahi's post, Shah commented, “Congratulations mere bhai (my brother) for Gulkanda and Raktabrahmand or jaldi Sai shuru kar de (start soon) pahadpangira. Maza aayega (it'll be fun) (smile emoji).

” Well, Rahi thanked Shah and wrote, “I am always there for you. Thanks for everything," to which Sohum replied, “Likewise (flying kiss emoji).” (sic) Even Adesh commented on Rahi's post.

He wrote, "Thank you, @rahianilbarve . It’s not a secret that I am always cheering for you. My heart fills up with so much love, pride and excitement to see all your dreams finally coming true, all of them so hard-earned and so well-deserved.

” Notably, Rahi is already packed with the horror-comedy series, Gulkanda Tales and Raktabhramand, which are co-written and produced by Raj and DK. Well, though Rahi announced his exit from Tumbbad 2, he will be back on the project for the third instalment of the franchise. Produced by Sohum Shah Films and presented by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions, Tumbbad is set in a Maharashtra village and explores Vinayak Rao's (Sohum) descent into greed and obsession as he seeks out a mythical treasure guarded by Hastar, the malevolent entity.

Considering the current massive response in India, Tumbbad is all set to go global. If the reports are anything to go by, a big US distribution house is in talks with Sohum Shah Films..
