. Read More Allu Arjun has cemented his place as the biggest Pan-India superstar of Indian cinema. With each film, he continues to push boundaries, but it is the Pushpa franchise that has catapulted him into global stardom.

His recent hit, Pushpa 2: The Rule, created absolute havoc at the box office, rewriting records with its thunderous success. Riding high on this wave, Sukumar’s 2009 cult hit Arya 2, featuring Allu Arjun, Kajal Aggarwal, and Navdeep, made a grand return to the big screens on April 5 — just in time for Allu Arjun’s 43rd birthday on April 8. The re-release took place across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad also joining in.

Given the recent Pushpa 2 stampede at the same venue, extra security was deployed this time around, as reported by ABP Live. According to the report, Arya 2’s re-release saw an enthusiastic response, with tickets selling like hotcakes and single screens going houseful. But keeping in mind the chaos during the Pushpa 2: The Rule release back in December 2024, the authorities weren’t taking any chances this time.

Extra precautions were put in place, with heavy police deployment to manage crowds and ensure everything ran smoothly at venues like Sandhya Theatre. The film also hit screens at both Sandhya 70 mm and 35 mm theatres at RTC X Roads in Hyderabad. To avoid a repeat of past incidents, especially after the Pushpa 2 stampede, at least 30 police personnel were stationed at the theatre, the report says.

In an unusual move for single-screen venues, authorities were seen checking bags and even scanning vehicles before letting fans in. For those who may not know, the heightened security around Arya 2’s re-release stems from a tragic incident that took place not too long ago. When Allu Arjun attended a special screening of his much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The Rule—also helmed by Sukumar—at the same Sandhya Theatre, things quickly spiraled out of control.

Overwhelmed fans surged toward the actor, resulting in a stampede. Sadly, a woman lost her life in the chaos, and her young son was critically injured and rushed to the hospital. The shocking turn of events even led to Arjun’s arrest, though he was later granted bail.

Meanwhile, several videos of fans dancing wildly in theatres to Allu Arjun’s iconic Ringa Ringa song from Arya 2 are going viral. Arya 2 featured a talented cast, including Allu Arjun, Kajal Aggarwal, Shraddha Das, and Navdeep. The film’s songs, like Ringa Ringa, My Love Is Gone, and Uppenantha, became instant chartbusters and are still loved by fans for their catchy music.

When Arya 2 first hit theatres back in 2009, it didn’t exactly have a dream run. The reviews were mixed, and the Telangana agitation at the time took a toll on its box office numbers. But over the years, just like the iconic 2004 film Arya, this one too found its way into the hearts of fans and earned cult status.

The film follows the emotional rollercoaster of two orphaned best friends who fall in love with the same girl..
