NEW DELHI: After setting in motion a no-confidence against vice president and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Opposition plans to take on parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju . Opposition Trinamool Congress , which is a part of the INDIA bloc, has decided to move a privilege motion against Rijiju, in Rajya Sabha, for making derogatory remarks against Opposition members of Parliament, according to TMC sources. With Rijiu attacking the Opposition for moving a notice to remove the Vice President for his conduct as the chairman of the Upper House on Tuesday, the Opposition parties have accused him of making "derogatory remarks" against the opposition MPs.
Without specifying the exact language that Rijiju used, that the opposition has found to be derogatory about the members, the sources said that it is inappropriate behaviour and especially so when it comes from the parliamentary affairs minister, who is expected to coordinate with members among other things for the smooth running of the government. TMC members are likely to move the privilege motion in the Upper House on Thursday. With the relations between the government and the opposition getting bitter over the last few days of the Winter Session, the privilege motion could further impact the relations between the two sides.
While most of the Winter session that started on November 25, got washed out with opposition trying to raise Adani, Sambhal and other issues and the ruling BJP too on an aggressive mode after the electoral victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, the rest of the session too could be caught in the stormy weather in Parliament.
