Twenty-seven players have found a home so far, from Sam Lalor to Richmond with the No.1 pick to Matt Whitlock getting to North Melbourne with the 27th selection. In Whitlock’s case, the Kangas pounced and swapped a future first round selection to nab him.

The late Chris Toce convinced Richmond’s list boss Blair Hartley that Dustin Martin clone Sam Lalor was the best prospect in this year’s AFL draft as part of his successful application to be the Tigers’ chief recruiter. Toce, a highly respected recruiting mind, lost his battle with cancer in October , only months into his time at Richmond – but his football legacy will live on through Lalor, who the Tigers anointed as the No.1 pick of this year’s loaded draft class .
