Melbourne defender Steven May admits his side faced a stern review from their coaches this week as they look to end their poor loss to Gold Coast last round. “Certainly, our effort and ability to execute our method wasn’t up to the level,” May told Fox Footy. “It’s not something Goody [Simon Goodwin] has had to coach us a lot on in the last few years as we’ve been consistent in that area but we had a very strong review, one we deserved, and we are looking to respond tonight.

Let’s get him right, we have a long year ahead of us.” The Demons will have small forward Charlie Spargo as their sub, Cats have defender Mark O’Connor as sub. Cats coach Chris Scott told Fox Footy Mark Blicavs is out for the Cats and Rhys Stanley will come in.
Scott joked he might not schedule a TV interview at 6.35pm in future, just before teams are named, as the first question was around the team. “Stanley comes in as a like for like and Sam De Koning will likely play more down back,” Scott told Fox Footy.
“It’s nice to have a ready-made, experienced ruckman to come in against someone like Max Gawn.” Mark O’Connor will be the Cats sub. Rhys Stanley warms up last year.

Jones said Stanley could be a late inclusion for the Cats as another ruckman to help combat Max Gawn. Fox Footy’s cameras showed Stanley walking around in his warm-up gear in Geelong’s change rooms.
He could just be standing by as an emergency, but time will tell. The final teams should be named at 6.40pm AEDT or near to that.

It has a private door, a special security guard, and a large decking area for guests to watch the Cats in action as they mingle in the fresh air. The grandiose box belongs to one of Geelong Football Club’s biggest backers, retail giant Cotton On, a long-time supporter that became the official apparel sponsor in 2016. It is a private box for private people.
