ADS-TEC Energy to supply battery-buffered DC chargers to Q8

ADS-TEC Energy has won a tender to supply more than a dozen ChargePost and ChargeBox systems to Q8 and Tango petrol stations in Belgium and the Netherlands. The battery-buffered fast-chargers can also be installed when grid capacity is limited.

ADS-TEC Energy’s charging solutions offer up to 320 kW. Because they are fitted with a battery-buffer, they can supply this type of power without extensive grid upgrades. The buffer battery slowly charges alternating current from the grid and quickly releases the extra energy when a car is plugged in.

Both companies point out that grid capacity in Belgium and the Netherlands is often limited, which is why Q8 opted for the latter’s fast-charging stations. “We are proud that Q8 has chosen us as a partner to drive forward the expansion of electric mobility in Belgium and the Netherlands,” said Thomas Speidel, CEO and founder of ADS-TEC Energy. The limited grid capacity is one of the biggest challenges in building out a widespread fast charging network.

This partnership shows that innovative battery storage technology is a crucial building block for the mobility of the future.” “Q8 is committed to meet the evolving needs of all EV drivers for (fast) charging across Belgium and the Netherlands, even on locations where, due to net congestion, limited grid capacity is available,” said Geert De Mil, Charging Technology, Systems and Insights Manager at Q8. The ChargePost was introduced in 2022 , combining two columns with charging electronics and battery storage in an “all-in-one” system.

It complements the ChargeBox, which connects the battery booster module to two charging columns. ADS-TEC Energy emphasises that the ChargePost helps generate income beyond charging, as it features an optional 75-inch screen for advertising and offers “additional revenue streams through energy trading.” mynewsdesk.
