After winning in 2003 for Roman Polanski's biographical World War II movie "The Pianist," he won again for his portrayal of a clever, tormented architect in Brady Corbet's epic. And by winning Best Actor on Sunday, Brody maintained his position among Oscar milestones in addition to making history.

Timothée Chalamet, 29, would have broken Brody's own 2003 record as the youngest Best Actor winner ever if he had taken home the trophy for "A Complete Unknown." Brody has won twice in the top category, making him the eleventh most successful actor. US actor Adrien Brody (Photo by Patrick T.

Hyde” and “The Best Years of Our Lives”), Gary Cooper (“Sergeant York” and “High Noon”), and Marlon Brando (“On the Waterfront” and “The Godfather”), all of whom are from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Dustin Hoffman (“Kramer vs. Kramer” and “Rain Man”), Jack Nicholson (“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “As Good as It Gets”), Tom Hanks (“Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump”), Sean Penn (“Mystic River” and “Milk”), Anthony Hopkins (“The Silence of the Lambs” and “The Father”), and three-timer Daniel Day-Lewis (“My Left Foot,” “There Will Be Blood,” and “Lincoln”) are also still alive.

However, before or during their two victories, each of those men had received a nomination. The only well-known male actor to win on both of his initial nominations is Brody. By doing this, he joins a select group of actors who have a perfect 2-for-2 record at the Academy Awards, such as Hilary Swank (“Boys Don’t Cry” and “Million Dollar Baby”), Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds” and “Django Unchained”), Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight” and “Green Book”), Luise Rainer (“The Good Earth” and “The Great Ziegfeld”), Helen Hayes (“The Sin of Madelon Claudet” and “Airport”), Vivien Leigh (“Gone With the Wind” and “A Streetcar Named Desire”), and Kevin Spacey (“The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty”).
