Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, launched a fierce critique against the Mamata Banerjee-led government, accusing it of deliberately shifting the state's demography through cross-border infiltration from Bangladesh. Adhikari's remarks coincided with the Chief Minister's budget session address. Accusing Banerjee of humiliating the Hindu community, Adhikari condemned her description of the Maha Kumbh gathering as 'mrityu kumbh'.
'Who has given her the right to demean pious gatherings?' he questioned, alongside other BJP legislators, expressing outrage and calling for action against Banerjee's alleged divisive tactics. Adhikari also criticized the treatment of BJP MLAs in the assembly, alleging their suspension was politically motivated to silence dissent on corruption and mismanagement issues. The suspension followed unruly protests in the House where BJP members were accused of tearing up official papers.
