Adam Sandler fans have shared their shock after realising an alarming truth about Dylan and Cole Sprouse, who played Julian in Big Daddy. The 1999 comedy drama film follows Adam Sandler’s lovable 32-year-old slacker Sonny Koufax, who, despite successfully graduating from law school, is meandering through life with little purpose. After winning $200,000 in compensation following a minor accident, he spends his days watching television and playing games.
He works one day a week at a toll booth and gets his food delivered each day by his slightly inept friend, Nazo, who is played by Rob Schneider. Sonny’s girlfriend Vanessa soon breaks up with him citing his lack of direction and ambition. His life is further upended when his roommate Kevin Gerrity - a lawyer - goes to China for a work trip, leaving him alone in the apartment.
He wakes up the next morning to find a five-year-old boy named Julian - played by twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse - who comes from Buffalo has been left at their apartment, with a note stating his mother is unable to take care of him anymore due to serious illness. The note also claims Kevin is the young boy’s biological father. When Sonny calls Kevin to break the news to him, his friend is baffled, claiming he’s never been to Buffalo.
Still, Sonny promises to take care of Julian until Kevin returns from China and gets to the bottom of the situation. Despite Sonny’s cluelessness and unusual approach to parenting, he and Julian develop a fierce bond over the course of the film and their experience leaves him changed for the better. Adam Sandler was 32 years old at the time of filming and fans of the hit comedy are reeling after realising that’s exactly how old the Sprouse twins are now.
The brothers were born on August 4, 1992 and were just six years old when shared the role of Julian, perfectly instilling him with vulnerability, charm, and humour. Now 32, they’re still in the public eye and often take on acting roles. Cole Sprouse went on to play Ross Geller’s son Ben in the iconic sitcom Friends, and has since starred as a series regular in the hit show Riverdale, as well as films including Five Feet Apart and Lisa Frankenstein.
Dylan Sprouse , married to model Barbara Palvin, also acts. He’s starred in films including After We Collided, Beautiful Disaster, Aftermath and more. On Reddit , a stunned Big Daddy fan shared: “TIL [today I learned] that Cole and Dylan Sprouse are now the same age Adam Sandler was when he played their adoptive dad in Big Daddy”.
In response, one person tagged the subreddit “F**k I’m old”, while another joked: “Swear I felt my shoulder pop reading this”. Sharing another personal shock, someone else added: “I'm f***ing older than he [Adam Sandler] was in that movie?!?”.
