Quincy Jones’s famous daughter, Rashida Jones, is paying tribute to the 91-year-old music legend days after he died in California. “My dad was nocturnal his whole adult life,” she wrote. “He kept ‘jazz hours’ starting in high school and never looked back.

” “When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him. Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed.

He would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work ...

there was no safer place in the world for me.” Her caption describes her father as “a giant” in the music industry. “An icon.

A culture shifter. A genius,” she wrote, adding these are “all accurate descriptions of my father, but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love.” She concluded: “He WAS love.

He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. That’s his legacy. I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity.

I'll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.

” Rashida is the daughter of Jones and his ex-wife, American model and actress Peggy Lipton. Lipton died in May 2019 at age 72 after a battle with cancer. She was married to Jones from 1974 to 1990.

The couple had two daughters, Rashida and Kidada Jones, 50. Rashida, best known for her role as Ann Meredith Perkins in the sitcom “Parks and Rec” is one of Jones’s seven children. He is also father to Jolie, 71, whom he had with his high school sweetheart and first wife Jeri Caldwell; Rachel, 61, whom he had with dancer Carol Reynolds; Martina, 58, and Quincy III, 56, whom he had with Swedish model Ulla Andersson; and Kenya, 31, whom he had with German actress Nastassja Kinski.

“Happy Birthday to my Tina Beena @martinafotos1!!. So proud to be yo papa! Big hug, I love you eternally,” the caption reads. In addition to his seven children, Jones also leaves behind three grandchildren, Isaiah Jones Koenig, Quincy Renzo Delight Jones IV, and Nea Jones.

He was also godfather to actor-musician Quincy Brown, who is named in honor of the music great. Jones’s music legacy ranged from producing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album to writing prize-winning film and television scores and collaborating with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and hundreds of other recording artists. The list of his honors and awards fills 18 pages in his 2001 autobiography “Q,” including 27 Grammys at the time (now 28), an honorary Academy Award (now two) and an Emmy for “Roots.

” He also received France’s Legion d'Honneur, the Rudolph Valentino Award from the Republic of Italy, and a Kennedy Center tribute for his contributions to American culture.
