Actor Tharshan arrested after parking dispute in Chennai

Actor Tharshan and his cousin Lokesh were arrested following a parking dispute that escalated into a physical altercation in Mogappair, Chennai. The incident involved verbal and physical confrontation with a group related to a retired High Court Justice. Investigations are ongoing with both parties filing complaints.

CHENNAI: JJ Nagar police arrested actor and TV personality Tharshan and his cousin Lokesh following a dispute over a parking issue that escalated into a physical altercation in Mogappair, Chennai , on Thursday night. No arrest was made on the complaint filed by Tharshan, police sources said. According to police reports, the incident occurred on April 3, 2025, when a vehicle belonging to Adhisudi, the son of a retired High Court Justice, was parked in front of Tharshan's residence on Pari Salai, Mogappair East.

Adhisudi, along with his pregnant wife Lavanya, mother-in-law Maheshwari, and other family members, went to a nearby tea shop, leaving the car parked outside Tharshan's home. The confrontation began when Tharshan requested that the car be moved as it was obstructing access to his property. The initial verbal disagreement quickly escalated into violence involving Tharshan, Lokesh, and three members of the opposing group.



Both parties sustained injuries during the altercation. Responding to public alerts, a sub-inspector of police from JJ Nagar police station arrived at the scene and summoned both groups for questioning. Tharshan and Lokesh arrived at the police station around 7 pm after receiving outpatient treatment at Raj Thilak Nursing Home.

They submitted a formal complaint at 9.30 pm. The opposing party was admitted as in-patients at GLB Hospital and informed the police at around 9.

50 pm. After receiving medical care, they filed a complaint against Tharshan, seeking legal action. Following an inquiry conducted at 8.

15 am on Friday, police officially registered cases based on complaints from both parties. Subsequently, Tharshan and Lokesh were produced before the magistrate court on Friday night. JJ Nagar police registered a case under Sections 296 (b) and 115(2) of the BNS Act based on Tharshan's complaint, while the cops registered another case under Sections 296 (b) and 115(2), 351(2) of the BNS Act and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Women Harassment (Prevention) Act based on the complaint filed by Adhisudi.

Police continue to investigate the matter, emphasizing a detailed examination of statements from all parties involved to proceed further with the case..
