Police sources told TMZ on Monday that the Brooklyn, New York native, 44, was being probed after a woman accused him of assaulting her.
Barrett's accuser got in touch with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department last month to report the incident involving the actor, who's played the role of Seth Reed on seven episodes of The Boys from 2019-2014, according to the outlet. Barrett's accuser said that after she and the actor consumed alcohol over the course of an evening, she awoke in his bed and he was 'touching' her, police sources told the outlet. Barrett's accuser told police that the actor, also known for playing the role of Rufus Carlin on the NBC time travel series Timeless, 'had sex with her against her will,' according to the outlet.
Barrett's accuser said to police that she had known the actor for months, and they had been out in Los Angeles drinking ahead of the alleged assault, TMZ reported. He has also been seen on TV series including Average Joe, The Changeling, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Santa Clarita Diet, Key and Peele and Better Off Ted.
He had a memorable scene in a 2002 episode of The Sopranos in which he played a Newark drug dealer named Angelo Davis who had threatened mob boss Tony Soprano ( played by the late James Gandolfini ). Barrett's also appeared in movies such as Dylan & Zoey, Horror Noire and 10.0 Earthquake.
