
Surat: In a massive crackdown on crime, the city police demolished illegal constructions, externed offenders, and detained several individuals under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act over the past two days. The action follows directives from the Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay, Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut revealed that a list of 2,036 criminals across 40 police station areas was compiled, with officers actively monitoring their activities. He added that many criminals fled the city fearing police action, but they will be tracked down soon.
Meanwhile, the Pandesara, Varachha, Godadara, and Laskana police demolished illegal structures in their areas, while Udhna police identified 16 illegal constructions of notorious criminals. "We sent 24 anti-social elements to different jails in Gujarat in two days. We also externed 16 persons to maintain peace in the city.
The actions were taken against those booked in cases under GujCTOC, murder, extortion, abduction, the Arms Act, and other serious crimes," Gahlaut added.
