MANILA, Philippines — Foam manufacturer Uratex has boosted its renewable energy shift with four more facilities now powered by the retail electricity supply business of Ayala-led ACEN Corp. ACEN RES said Monday three Uratex facilities in Metro Manila—Magallanes, Shaw and Marcos Highway, as well as one in Isabela, have fully transitioned to clean energy to power operations. Seven other Uratex facilities located in Luzon and Cebu are already utilizing renewable energy.

Uratex is a leading player in the production of mattresses in the local market. It also offers full-range automotive and commercial polyurethane foam products, textile, plastic furniture and containers. The retail electricity supply deal between the two parties is under the government’s Green Energy Option Program, which allows customers consuming an average peak demand of 100 kilowatts to source their power from renewable energy.

“This partnership not only helps accelerate the sustainability journey of Uratex but also enables ACEN to build more renewable energy capacity and support the country’s goal of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix,” Miguel de Jesus, managing director and chief operating officer for Philippine operations at ACEN, said in a disclosure.
