A political association, Allied Conservative Congress (ACC), has expressed concern that Nigerians’ confidence in the judiciary has fast eroded in the recent past. According to ACC, this was because of frequent miscarriage of justice, issuance of orders and counter orders, judgements and conflicting judgements by courts of coordinate jurisdiction. The party also lamented that the trend had made a mockery of the administration of justice in Nigeria.

The National Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, said this called for urgent need to overhaul the judiciary, adding that an unbiased judiciary was critical for sustainable democracy. He said judicial officers must be firm and above board in upholding the rule of law as so much is required of them in strengthening, deepening and consolidating the nation’s democracy. Accordingly, he urged the Judiciary to sit up and discharge its statutory duties without fear or favour as the temple of justice and the last hope of all aggrieved people bearing in mind that justice is not for sale to the highest bidder.

He said the National Executive Committee of Allied Conservative Congress commends eminent Nigerians who have identified with or joined the movement for a better society, and urges fellow compatriots who believe in the ACC ideology to also join immediately. “It is a national movement for peace, unity, stability, equity, security, morality and prosperity. A departure from the current progressivism, corruption, poverty, terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy, secession, kidnapping for ransom and ritual killings that have plagued the country and dampened our moral values.

The need for a conservative leadership cannot be overemphasized. “It takes political will to fight corruption and insecurity in the country and restore sanity in the polity. Nigeria is the only country we have, we must join hands and salvage it together.

Together, we will build a strong conservative democratic nation present and future generations will be proud of. “In furtherance of the National Executive Committee members’ loyalty, commitment and dedication in the service of our great political movement and the nation as enshrined in the Allied Conservative Congress Constitution, the code of conduct and oath of Allegiance to ACC will be signed by NEC members today, Thursday 14th November 2024. “Also all Officers of ACC at all levels as well as all Aspirants for various elective positions will equally sign the Code of Conduct and Oath of Allegiance at the appropriate time.

“This will help us to remain focused in promoting and achieving our Conservative Ideology essential in fostering sustainable democracy in Nigeria. “We urge all lovers of democracy and good governance to identify with the Allied Conservative Congress for a better, brighter and greater Nigeria. We must take our collective destiny in our hands and usher in a new Nigeria.

“As the upcoming conservative party in Nigeria, ACC will be a breath of fresh air in politics and governance. Formed shortly after the 2023 contentious general election, the movement attracted Nigerians of all political affiliations, particularly, the long-suffering, marginalised populace who are disillusioned and feel the pains of political upheavals, economic hardships, socio-religious tensions and insecurity. “Their cry for a change was heard.

As responsible compatriots, strongly determined to foster sustainable democracy and development, ACC members across the nation engaged in membership drive, spread its conservative ideology and established secretariats in the 36 states and the FCT. “Preparations are on towards the registration of Allied Conservative Congress as a political party by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” he said..
