ACB arrests Alwar PHED engr for taking bribe of ₹1.5L

Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested an executive engineer (XEN) posted in the Public Health Engineering Department ( PHED ) in Alwar for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh and recovered Rs 55 lakh in cash from his house during a search of his premises. Speaking to TOI, DIG ACB Dr Ravi said that the accused, Divyank Tyagi , demanded bribe in exchange for clearing pending bills of a contractor.

He further said that during the search of Tyagi’s residence, Rs 55 lakh in cash was recovered. Dr Ravi also revealed that the ACB had received complaints that Tyagi had been taking money from other contractors as well. According to ACB sources, a contractor had a pending payment, for which Tyagi demanded a 3% commission.



Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB verified it and laid a trap. The complainant went to meet Tyagi, where the latter was caught red-handed while accepting money. Tyagi was immediately arrested.

The search operation, which began in the evening, continued late into the night, and by 8:30pm, Rs 55 lakh had already been counted from Tyagi's residence. "We will file a case against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, and the search at his premises is ongoing," said an official. Sources also indicated that the agency is investigating Tyagi's movable and immovable assets.
