Vancouver — The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver, led by Consul General Jongho Kyun, has announced that registration for overseas absentee voting in the 21st presidential election will remain open until Thursday, April 24. Individuals, including overseas residents, students studying abroad, expatriates, and travelers who hold Korean resident registration and wish to vote from abroad in the 21st Presidential Election of the Republic of Korea on June 3, must separately register for overseas absentee voting by April 24, 2025. Registrations can be made by visiting the designated reception desk at the civil service office within the Consulate General of Vancouver, or through the National Election Commission's website (ova.
nec.go.kr), via email or by mail.
Additionally, overseas citizens who do not have a resident registration and are not listed on the overseas voter list for the 22nd National Assembly election must apply for registration as overseas voters by April 24, 2025, in order to participate in the overseas voting. The voting period for each overseas polling station will be announced later on the National Election Commission or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' websites, so individuals should check the operating period of the overseas polling station where they wish to vote in advance. Consul General Jongho Kyun, the overseas voting manager, stated, “We will make every effort to promote and manage the election so that many overseas citizens can exercise their right to vote without difficulty in the 21st presidential election.
