Pune: AAP's city unit on Tuesday demanded that the civic administration constituted a grievance redressal cell and launched a toll-free number for patients and their relatives visiting private or civic hospitals for treatment. Members of a delegation of the AAP stated that the PMC should deploy dedicated staffers at the redressal cell to resolve issues. The head of AAP's health unit, Abhijit More, said the demands were raised against the backdrop of a pregnant woman being allegedly denied medical services at a private hospital.

More said, "All private hospitals should prominently display the information of PMC's grievance redressal cell, the name of the municipal officers concerned and the toll-free number. We also demand regular checks at hospitals." An official from PMC's health department said, "We have asked the private hospitals to follow the norms.

Our teams will visit the facilities." Another AAP member, Amol More, said, "The inspections will decrease in a few days. We want sustained efforts to provide good medical services to common people and action against overcharging.
