Aamir Khan recalled thinking he had ruined his career by giving flops repeatedly. Aamir Khan is one of the few superstars who doesn’t take on many films at the same time and stars in only one film in a few years. This is because after his successful debut with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988, he signed nearly 10 films which turned out to be bad.

In a recent chat with Javed Akhtar, Aamir revealed that he received nearly 400 offers after his debut, but he didn’t have the sense to pick the right films back then. “Back then, actors worked on 30 to 50 films simultaneously. Interestingly, Anil Kapoor did the fewest, with 33 films.

Seeing that, I ended up signing 9-10 films at once. However, none of the directors I had dreamed of working with offered me any roles. It was only once the shooting of these films began that I realised the gravity of my mistake.

I was working three shifts a day. I was not happy. I would go home and cry," the actor said.

Films like Love Love Love, Awwal Number and Tum Mere Ho flopped at the box office. “The media dubbed me a ‘one-film wonder.’ Rightly so; I blame no one for that label.

By then, I was certain that not only had these three films failed, but my next six would be disasters because they were even worse. I could see my career going down the drain. I was stuck in a swamp, unable to get out.

" However, Aamir Khan’s career did the exact opposite, and today, he is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood. He is currently backing Lahore 1947. The film stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta as the leads.

The film marks Preity’s Bollywood comeback. “Lahore: 1947 is presently in the editing stage, and Aamir Khan is keen to bring the film to the spectacle in August 2025. As a producer, he feels that the holiday season in the month could benefit the film, as it is set against the backdrop of India–Pakistan partition, which also took place in August 1947.

A final call on the date will be taken once the edit is locked," a source close to the development told Pinkvilla..
