Aaditi Pohankar has received acclaim for her performance in the Bobby Deol-led thriller series Ek Badnaam Aashram. The actress’s journey to recognition has been long, and she has faced several rejections along the way.

Recently, during an interview, Aaditi shared how her rejection for the part of a wrestler in Dangal helped mold her character in Aashram. In conversation with ETimes, Aaditi shared her disappointment at not being cast in Aamir Khan’s Dangal. However, she emphasised that whatever one learns turns out to be helpful in some way in the future.

She said, “I learned the Haryanvi accent, understood the mindset of wrestlers, and gained valuable insights. The role I got in Aashram was entirely different- more than just a wrestler- but that prior learning proved essential and really helped me. I am so happy that it found an application because now it’s not left within me as an unfulfilled desire.

" Talking about her experience on Prakash Jha’s crime thriller, Aaditi said it was like making four films at once. At a point, she needed to wrestle, train, and perform emotionally all at once. She added that the role changed her perspective as an athlete and actor, and helped her cultivate the strength to tackle demanding roles.

Ek Badnaam Aashram, a crime drama web series, premiered in 2020, and its latest season dropped on Amazon MX player on February 27. In the show, Aaditi Pohankar plays Pammi, a wrestler who appears to be attracted to Baba Nirala and his ashram. Apart from Aaditi and Bobby Deol, the series features Darshan Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Tushar Pandey, Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman, among others.

Prior to this, Aaditi gained recognition for her role in She. The series was co-created and written by Imtiaz Ali and Divya Johry. It was directed by Arif Ali and Avinash Das and produced by Window Seat Films.

In She, Aaditi played the role of a female officer who goes undercover to arrest an underworld group. Her strength and performance in the gritty thriller show earned her acclaim from fans and critics. The series also featured Vijay Varma and Kishore in key roles.
