Police, fire and the ambulance service were called to the A14 eastbound at Horningsea at 9.
25pm last night (April 22), after multiple vehicles were involved in a crash. One person in a car died, while three others in the same car suffered serious injuries. The driver of a lorry, a 38-year-old man from Cambridge, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody. Cambridgeshire Police is appealing for witnesses following the crash. A police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.
They would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time with dash cam footage.” The road still remains closed this morning (April 23) between J34 and J35. Police warn that it may be closed for some time.
Inrix, a traffic monitoring site, says: “A14 Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident investigation work from J33 A10 (Milton Interchange) to J35 A1303 Newmarket Road (Stow Cum Quy). Congestion to J32 (Histon Interchange) and the diversion route.” A diversion is in place via the A10 passing Milton, Waterbeath until Stretham.
