A Scott man was found guilty of murder in 2021 stabbing death in Lafayette

A Scott man accused in the July 2021 stabbing death of Kennedy Mouton Sr. of Lafayette has been found guilty of second-degree murder.

On July 23, 2021, Woods allegedly stabbed Mouton several times outside a St. Antoine Street home, according to reports. A forensic pathologist testified that the knife penetrated Mouton's heart, killing him.



Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 5 before 15th Judicial District Court Judge Michele Billeaud. Woods faces up to 40 years in prison at hard labor.
