Lucy Alexander, renowned for hosting A Place In The Sun and her early career as a children's TV presenter, isn't the only star in her family. Both of her children have carved out successful careers in the limelight, with her daughter being a soap actress and her son a Premier League footballer. Despite their fame, the 55-year-old TV host insists that her family remains grounded, vowing that celebrity status will not inflate their egos.
It's hardly surprising that Lucy's offspring have achieved such success, considering both she and her husband have enjoyed prosperous careers over the years. The TV star is married to Stewart Castledine, a former professional footballer who played midfield for Wimbledon before transitioning into fashion, modelling for brands like DKNY and Topman, among others. The couple exchanged vows in a grand ceremony in 2000, later welcoming their first child Kitty, 23, followed by their son Leo, 20.
Long before meeting Stewart, Lucy, who starred alongside Martin Roberts for 13 years on BBC 's Homes Under The Hammer, was already immersed in the property industry, reports Mirror. Lucy bought her first property at just 18 with her parents' assistance. After meeting Stewart, they combined their shared passion for property development.
In a previous interview with the Express, she reminisced: "I met my husband. And then we both did a little bit of buying and selling together. But I've always had a passion for property because I suppose it's in my blood.
" Stewart also ventured into television, much like his renowned TV presenter wife, taking the reins on shows such as Big Strong Boys and Houses Behaving Badly for the BBC . Their daughter, Kitty, has taken the acting world by storm, becoming a beloved figure on BBC 's EastEnders as Penny Branning. Her performances have already seen her involved in significant storylines alongside her cousin on the show, Jacqueline Jossa.
The youngest of Lucy and Stewart's offspring, Leo, appears to be emulating his father's sporting prowess, having been signed by Premier League team Chelsea, where he's tipped for an exceptional footballing future. He's been on Chelsea's radar since being scouted in 2011 and has now stepped up to make an impact on the senior squad. Additionally, Leo has donned the England youth team kit, leaving spectators amazed with a sensational goal against Romania.
Yet despite the family’s brush with fame, Lucy is determined to keep everyone's feet firmly planted on the ground. In a heartfelt interview with The Sun, she vowed: "We are very down to earth and no one runs away with themselves and my kids certainly keep me grounded. "But they are all doing jobs that they love and it's just uncanny and weird that I'm in this line of work and now Kitty, she's an actress and I went to drama school.
My husband was a footballer and now my son plays professional football. We are lucky that we do jobs that we absolutely love." Lucy, who took the property plunge at just 18, suspects her offspring might tread a similar path, noting: "It is so good now that they are adults because they have taken on my love for property.
" "Now they are of the age where they are probably going to want to leave home and I've been going with them around houses all over the place now!". A Place In The Sun is on Channel 4 weekdays at 6pm.
