m. when he emerged from the woods at a jobsite off Knights Hill Road, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office. He told contractors at the site that his friend was shot and needed help before disappearing back into the woods, the sheriff’s office said late Monday night.
Police ordered people in the nearby area to shelter in place while they searched for the man and anyone who may have been injured. He was eventually found at a home about 7:30 p.m.
First responders treated the man, who hasn’t been publicly identified, for minor foot injuries before he was taken to Bridgton Hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to the sheriff’s office. A high-powered pellet rifle was seized. Police said that there’s “no credible information” that anyone else was involved or hurt.
